On September 24, 2026, Orizzonte Sistemi Navali, a joint venture owned 51 percent by Fincantieri and 49 percent by Leonardo, announced a contract with OCCAR worth approximately EUR 3.70 billion for two DDX destroyers for the Italian Navy. The program includes approximately EUR 1.70 billion for Leonardo, including approximately EUR 480.00 million in options, and approximately EUR 1.80 billion for Fincantieri, including approximately EUR 800.00 million in options, according to the Leonardo release.
