New Thailand manufacturing hub
Infineon Technologies AG said on October 1, 2026, that it had officially inaugurated a new backend manufacturing site in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Thailand. The site currently employs around 350 people and is expected to grow to approximately 1,000 employees as its first building ramps up. Designed for phased expansion, the facility can grow from one module to as many as five.
The company said the site includes cleanroom, assembly, testing and wafer-test capabilities. It runs on 100 percent green electricity and includes water recycling, rainwater collection and on-site solar modules, according to Infineon.
Open-source software membership
In a separate October 1, 2026 announcement, Infineon Technologies AG said it was upgrading to platinum-level membership in the Zephyr Project, an open-source real-time operating system ecosystem hosted by the Linux Foundation. Infineon said the move will support Zephyr enablement across its microcontroller and wireless portfolios.
