Thailand manufacturing hub inaugurated
Infineon Technologies AG said on October 1 that it had officially inaugurated a new backend manufacturing site in Bangkok, Samut Prakan. The company said the facility strengthens and diversifies its global manufacturing network and can be expanded to up to five modules.
The site currently employs around 350 people and is expected to grow to approximately 1,000 employees as the first building, Module A, ramps up, according to the company's release. The facility covers semiconductor backend processes and wafer testing, with cleanroom, assembly and testing capabilities.
Site designed for scalable production
Infineon's Bangkok site information says Module A has cleanroom space of up to 30,000 square meters. The site focuses on power modules and discretes, wafer testing, and research and development, and is designed to use 100 percent green electricity.
