Second-quarter results
In its July 31, 2026 release, Imperial Oil reported second-quarter net income of CAD 2,190 million under U.S. GAAP, compared with CAD 949 million in the year-earlier quarter. Cash flows from operating activities totaled CAD 2,704 million, while upstream production averaged 414,000 gross oil-equivalent barrels per day.
The company said refinery throughput averaged 331,000 barrels per day and capacity utilization was 76 percent during the quarter. Imperial also updated its 2026 refinery guidance to throughput of 370,000 to 380,000 barrels per day and utilization of 85 percent to 88 percent.
Management outlines growth opportunities
In a September 25, 2026 company blog, Chairman, President and CEO John Whelan discussed potential long-term growth opportunities involving a West Coast pipeline, the Pathways project and higher production. He wrote that Imperial could potentially double its gross operated upstream production under a supportive fiscal and regulatory framework.
