Leadership announced ahead of separation
In a September 9, 2026 release, Genuine Parts Company said Court Carruthers, a current board member, had been appointed CEO-elect of Genuine Parts, effective immediately. He is expected to assume the CEO role when the planned separation is completed.
The release said Bert Nappier would serve as executive vice president, chief financial and operating officer of Genuine Parts. Jean-Jacques Lafont was designated to become non-executive chairman of the automotive business upon separation.
Investor days scheduled
Genuine Parts said its automotive business will retain the Genuine Parts Company name, while its industrial business will operate as Motion. The separation is targeted for the first quarter of 2027 and remains subject to customary conditions, including final board approval and the effectiveness of a Form 10 registration statement, according to the company announcement.
Separate investor days are scheduled for December 8, 2026, for Genuine Parts and December 9, 2026, for Motion, both in New York City.
