DDX program sets out Fincantieri role
In a September 24, 2026 release, Fincantieri said its 51%-owned joint venture Orizzonte Sistemi Navali, or OSN, had signed an approximately EUR 3.70 billion contract with OCCAR for two DDX destroyers for the Italian Navy. The contract includes approximately EUR 1.30 billion in options.
OSN said it would enter sub-supply contracts worth approximately EUR 1.80 billion with Fincantieri and EUR 1.70 billion with Leonardo. Fincantieri is to design and develop the naval platform and act as system integrator. Delivery of the first and second vessels is scheduled for 2033 and 2035, respectively, according to Leonardo.
