Brazil concession under review
According to Reuters, Brazil's electricity regulator Aneel scheduled a meeting for October 6 to discuss whether to recommend that the country's energy and mines ministry revoke Enel's license to distribute electricity across metropolitan São Paulo before its 2028 expiry. The final decision rests with the ministry.
Reuters reported that the proceedings concern Enel São Paulo, which serves about 8.5 million homes and businesses. Enel said the proceedings focus on a single weather event in December 2025 and do not reflect improvements made over the past two and a half years. The company also disputed parts of Aneel's methodology for calculating customer disruption and reconnection times.
