Cisco said USFP is designed to support both 200G and 400G SerDes-based systems and ASICs. With 16 lanes operating at 400 Gb/s per lane, the design would provide 6.4T of aggregate capacity, while a 32-lane architecture could reach 12.8T. Cisco also said the design could offer approximately 1.3 times greater power efficiency than 200G SerDes technology. The company presented the plans with NVIDIA as part of its October 12, 2026, OCP Global Summit announcements, according to Cisco Blogs.
