Asia Pacific hotel investment reaches USD 8 billion
In a company report published September 24, CBRE said Asia Pacific hotel investment activity reached USD 8 billion in the first half of 2026, an increase of 21 percent from the same period a year earlier. Japan, Mainland China and Korea led the activity, according to the CBRE release.
The report said average daily rates were at or near historical highs in most Asia Pacific markets, while revenue per available room continued to increase across most markets, driven primarily by average daily rate growth. It also said hotel occupancy remained below pre-pandemic levels in much of the region as operators prioritized rate growth over occupancy gains.
CBRE said elevated construction costs were constraining development activity across many markets. Excluding Mainland China, hotel supply in the region was expected to grow by about 1 percent annually between 2025 and 2029, while Mainland China accounted for nearly half of projected new additions.
