Credit rating raised
In a September 29, 2026 announcement, Befesa said S&P Global Ratings had upgraded its long-term issuer credit rating from BB to BB+, with a stable outlook. The ratings on Befesa’s EUR 650.00 million term loan B and EUR 100.00 million revolving credit facility were also raised to BB+.
S&P Global Ratings said the action reflected Befesa’s operating performance, favorable zinc-market conditions and the contribution from growth projects. S&P also cited expected higher European recycling volumes as new electric arc furnace capacity comes online. Befesa said its net leverage had declined consistently over recent quarters, supported by earnings growth, disciplined capital allocation and strong cash flow generation.
