BAE Systems said it completed live trials of its Anti Threat System, or BATS, in Scotland. The company published the announcement on October 1, 2026, and updated the page on October 6.
Integrated response to drone threats
According to BAE Systems, the two-week trials demonstrated the complete BATS “sense, decide, effect” mission chain against uncrewed air threats through a single integrated command-and-control architecture. The system coordinated multiple sensors and effectors to identify and respond to evolving threats in real time.
BAE Systems said the trials covered detection and situational awareness, non-kinetic responses using electronic warfare and software-defined radio technologies, and a more complex tactical scenario involving the full sense-to-effect chain. The trial also showcased an integrated gun system and an electronic-warfare kill chain.
Progress toward deployment
BAE Systems said BATS combines sensing, intelligence fusion, command and control, decision support and countermeasures in a modular, software-defined capability. The company is progressing the system toward operational deployment and expanding its sensing, countermeasure and threat-intelligence capabilities.
