New F-16 identification system
BAE Systems, Inc. said on September 29 that its AN/APX-127(V)1 Combined Interrogator Transponder received AIMS certification from the Department of War for the U.S. Air Force’s F-16 Fighting Falcon. The certification marks the system as ready for use under a U.S. and NATO interoperable standard, according to the company’s official release.
The release said the system combines interrogator and transponder functions, supports Mode S and Mode 5 secure data exchange, and is designed as a drop-in replacement for three earlier combined interrogator transponders. BAE Systems, Inc. expects to begin deliveries from the first 90-unit production lot this year, the company said in the same release.
