AstraZeneca completes Summit investment
AstraZeneca announced on October 5 that it had completed its $2 billion equity investment in Summit Therapeutics. The company said the investment is intended to accelerate development of ivonescimab, a bispecific antibody targeting PD-1 and VEGF, in combination with antibody-drug conjugates across tumor types. The completion followed AstraZeneca's September 28 announcement of the investment agreement, under which the company said it would receive rights equivalent to approximately 12.0 percent of Summit's outstanding common stock, or approximately 10.6 percent on a fully diluted basis. The September announcement also described a clinical collaboration to evaluate sonesitatug vedotin with ivonescimab. AstraZeneca said the investment will support the development program, while its September announcement set out the original transaction terms.
