Applied Materials expands Besi partnership
Applied Materials and BE Semiconductor Industries, known as Besi, announced on October 1, 2026, that they had expanded their strategic partnership. Besi will join Applied’s EPIC Center as an Innovation Partner, extending cooperation that began in 2020 at a joint Hybrid Bonding Center of Excellence in Singapore. The companies said the collaboration will cover next-generation three-dimensional integrated-circuit scaling, logic and memory integration, and photonics-enabled interconnect applications. Applied Materials’ investor-relations release said planned research programs include die-to-wafer hybrid bonding, thermo-compression bonding, and die-on-wafer, die-on-die and die-on-panel integration platforms.
The release said Applied’s EPIC Center in Silicon Valley is expected to be operationally ready in 2026. Capital spending is expected to scale over time to approximately $5 billion as customer projects commence, according to the company’s release.
