Fitch keeps stable outlook
Fitch Ratings affirmed Antofagasta PLC’s long-term foreign- and local-currency issuer default ratings at BBB+ and kept the rating outlook stable in a report dated September 16, 2026. Fitch Ratings cited Antofagasta’s position as a large copper producer in Chile, its cash-flow record and financial profile.
Fitch expects copper production, excluding Zaldívar, to decline to around 610,000 tonnes in 2026 before recovering to about 660,000 tonnes in 2027. The rating agency also identified Centinela’s second concentrator, the Los Pelambres desalination expansion and a Zaldívar water-recycling project among Antofagasta’s current projects. Fitch Ratings said these projects are intended to support production and cost improvements.
