Sangdong produces first concentrate
In a shareholder letter issued on September 29, Almonty Industries said it had produced the first bags of tungsten concentrate at its Sangdong mine in South Korea. The company said the mill was running 13 hours a day, seven days a week, and that Phase II underground development was underway. Almonty also said it expects Phase II to be completed in 2027, with capacity potentially rising to up to 1.2 million tonnes per year and more than 460,000 metric tonne units of tungsten annually. Business Wire carried the issuer's release.
Commercial operations authorized
In a September 21 release, Almonty said inspection certificates issued September 17 authorized commercial operation of the Sangdong processing plant and crushing facilities, including sales of tungsten concentrate. The company said more than 90 percent of Phase I production was contracted under a 21-year agreement covering 4.41 million metric tonne units, with minimum contracted volumes of 210,000 metric tonne units per year following ramp-up.
