Alliant Energy submitted an application on September 4 to establish a standard utility-wide electric rate for large-load customers in southern Wisconsin, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The proposal would apply to customers using at least 100 megawatts, including artificial-intelligence data centers.

The report said the application followed an order from state regulators. Alliant Energy said the proposal is intended to keep data-center-related costs from being allocated to existing ratepayers.
