Decorative paints transaction
AkzoNobel agreed to sell its decorative paints business in Southeast Asia and Australia to Nippon Paint, Reuters reported on October 5. The reported scope covers operations in Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Australia. Reuters said the Indonesia transaction is expected to close separately in late 2026, while the remaining transactions are expected to close around mid-2027, subject to customary conditions.
Baker McKenzie, which advised AkzoNobel on the transaction, also described the planned divestments as the conclusion of the company’s Decorative Paints portfolio review in Southeast and South Asia. The law firm said the transactions remain subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
