ABB outlines Infinitus portfolio

In a September 22, 2026, press release, ABB announced Infinitus, a direct-current portfolio designed to address the power demands of AI data centers. The company said the portfolio is intended to improve energy efficiency, reduce the footprint of power infrastructure and increase available computing capacity.

ABB said the portfolio uses 800 VDC distribution to reduce conversion steps and heat losses compared with conventional alternating-current systems. Its five building blocks are medium-voltage powertrains, DC sources and power quality, DC power distribution, DC power protection and cooling optimization.

Production and deployment timeline

ABB said a number of the main Infinitus components are expected to be produced within the next 12 months. The company expects the first DC-native facilities using the complete portfolio to be installed and operational within two to three years. The release also said the launch extends ABB’s collaboration with NVIDIA on 800 VDC power architectures for gigawatt-scale AI facilities.
