Zcash price is being watched as the privacy-focused network approaches its next major protocol change. The NU7 upgrade is planned for mainnet block 3,543,405, a height developers expect to reach around November 5, 2026. The trigger is the block height rather than a fixed clock time, so the calendar estimate can move with network conditions.
Investing.com displayed ZEC at 1,363.06 USD in its latest ZEC/USD snapshot, with a reported daily move of 6.89 percent. The same page showed a 24-hour volume of 1.04 billion USD, a market capitalization of 22.91 billion USD and a market ranking of 10. It also listed 16.94 million ZEC in circulation against a maximum supply of 21 million. These figures describe the snapshot and should not be read as a forecast.
What NU7 changes
According to Coinranking, NU7 would reduce target block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds under ZIP 218. That is intended to shorten confirmation waits for payments, exchange deposits and other transfers that depend on new blocks. Coinranking also reports that daily ZEC issuance is intended to remain unchanged because the subsidy per block would adjust to the faster block schedule.
The upgrade also changes the treatment of legacy transactions. Version 4 transactions associated with Zcash's original Sprout privacy system are expected to stop working at activation. CoinDesk reported that funds remaining in Sprout when the change takes effect could become unspendable, making the transition relevant for holders using that legacy system. Ordinary holders using newer supported address types are not described as needing a token swap.
Investor context
The technical change provides a defined event for the Zcash price to be evaluated, but the market data alone does not establish that the upgrade caused the recent move. The key execution risks are whether the planned height is incorporated into compatible node software and whether exchanges, wallets and infrastructure providers update in time. The official Zcash upgrade page identifies NU7 as the network's next major upgrade and notes that it is not expected to be supported by the deprecated zcashd node.
