- fixCleanup3_4_0 is conditionally scheduled for activation on November 4 after support from 33 of 35 tracked validators.
- The amendment addresses a permission flaw that could allow burn-only delegates to mint issued tokens under certain conditions.
- XRP itself and its native supply are unaffected, while XRP traded at 1.2792 USD on the retrieved Investing.com page.
The XRP price is in focus as the XRP Ledger approaches a conditional technical upgrade on November 4. The fix, called fixCleanup3_4_0, is designed to close a permission loophole affecting issued tokens, including stablecoins. It does not change XRP's own supply.
Investing.com displayed XRP at 1.2792 USD on November 3, with a page timestamp of 18:00:01. The same page showed a market capitalization of 80.80 billion USD, 24-hour volume of 1.86 billion USD and a reported market rank of five. These figures are a snapshot from the retrieved course page rather than a UTC day-close comparison.
Permission flaw remains the key catalyst
According to CoinDesk, the issue could allow an account authorized only to destroy an issuer's tokens to create new ones in specific circumstances. The affected PaymentBurn permission is intended to remove tokens from circulation, while minting should require separate PaymentMint authority. The planned amendment is intended to enforce that separation.
The exposure concerns tokens issued on the ledger, such as trust-line tokens and multi-purpose tokens, rather than XRP. CoinDesk reported no public records or reports that the flaw had been exploited. Until the correction is active, the network's documentation advises against delegating the affected burn permission.
Activation depends on validator support
The amendment has backing from 33 of 35 tracked trusted validators. XRPL rule changes require more than 80 percent support for two uninterrupted weeks. Support previously fell to 80 percent or below on October 21, restarting the countdown and moving the earliest activation window from October 23 to approximately 14:46 UTC on November 4. The switch remains conditional on support holding through the relevant voting checkpoint.
For investors, the immediate significance is operational rather than a direct change to XRP token economics. The upgrade also includes corrections for trading-pool, vault and loan calculations, but separate lending-related amendments have not yet reached the support needed to begin their own activation periods. The XRP price therefore remains a market indicator around a network-security event, not proof that the fix has already activated.
