- The XRP Ledger activated fixCleanup3_4_0 on November 4 after a validator-support delay.
- The amendment addressed a token-permission flaw affecting issued assets, not XRP's native supply.
- Investing.com displayed XRP at 1.2402 US dollars, while the November 5 UTC close was listed at 1.3047 US dollars.
- The disclosed market data points to elevated volatility and a weaker short-term trend.
The XRP Ledger has activated a protocol amendment that closes a disclosed token-permission loophole, while the XRP price remains volatile. The fix addresses a security issue affecting certain assets issued on the network, including stablecoins, rather than XRP itself.
Amendment went live after delay
According to CoinDesk, the amendment named fixCleanup3_4_0 became active on November 4 at 14:52 UTC, at ledger 108,112,129. The activation followed two uninterrupted weeks of validator support after an earlier approval attempt was interrupted in October.
The flaw involved delegated permissions. Under certain conditions, an account authorized to destroy an issuer's tokens could also create new tokens, despite not having separate minting authority. The correction restores the intended separation between those functions. CoinDesk reported that no publicly confirmed exploitation cases had been identified.
Native XRP supply unaffected
The change is relevant to issuers and service providers using the XRP Ledger for stablecoins and other issued assets. It does not alter the native XRP supply. The same software release also contains accounting corrections for planned lending and pooled-asset features, as well as fixes related to trading and transaction signing, according to CoinDesk.
For investors, the direct effect on XRP is therefore primarily one of network integrity rather than a change in token supply. A successful protocol repair can remove a defined operational risk, but it does not by itself establish additional demand for XRP or guarantee a price recovery.
Price remains below the prior close
Investing.com listed XRP/USD at 1.2402 US dollars, with a displayed 24-hour change of -5.37%, 24-hour volume of 2.38 billion US dollars and market capitalization of 79.25 billion US dollars. The page showed the time as 18:03:01 but no calendar date. The XRP topic page listed a November 5 UTC close of 1.3047 US dollars; against that basis, 1.2402 US dollars represents a decline of 4.94%.
The displayed 52-week range was 0.9886 to 2.5797 US dollars. That range and the recent decline illustrate the volatility investors face even when a network-level security issue has been contained. The protocol update improves the technical framework, while price direction remains dependent on broader crypto-market conditions and demand for XRP.
