- WIG20 closed at 4,209.15 points on November 5, 2026, gaining 0.46% from Wednesday's close.
- Retail stocks led the benchmark, with LPP, Dino and Modivo among the strongest performers.

- An analyst cited improved sentiment after the US elections and lower perceived Iran-related risk as market supports.
The WIG20 finished the Warsaw Stock Exchange session on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 4,209.15 points, up 0.46% from Wednesday's close at 4,190.08 points. The closing level and daily change were reported by Strefa Inwestorów, while the previous close was reported by PAP Biznes.
Retail shares lead the rebound
Trading was led by consumer-facing companies. LPP gained 4.67%, while Dino rose 3.03% and Modivo advanced 1.15%. According to XYZ, LPP's rise followed the release of preliminary third-quarter sales data showing a 20% increase in constant-currency revenue and 4.4% like-for-like sales growth.
The performance of the largest companies diverged from the broader market, with medium- and small-cap benchmarks declining during the session, according to the same market review. This left the WIG20 as the stronger segment of Warsaw trading on the day.
Analyst points to external support
Mateusz Chrzanowski of Noble Securities attributed the WIG20's strength, as quoted by XYZ, to optimism after Democrats won both chambers of the US Congress in the elections. He also pointed to a lower perceived probability of further attacks on Iran, which could ease pressure on commodity prices and inflation expectations. These are market interpretations rather than a direct measure of the index's underlying earnings outlook.
Decliners temper the advance
Only five WIG20 constituents fell, but several declines were notable. KGHM lost 2.63%, Allegro dropped 1.76% and CD Projekt slipped 0.91%. The contrast between the retail leaders and the weaker resource and technology names kept the session's advance relatively concentrated.
