WIG 20 closed at 4,187.98 points on October 9, 2026, up 1.43 percent, as energy stocks led a rebound across Warsaw blue chips. The index opened at 4,148.97 points and traded between 4,148.97 and 4,191.40 points, according to GPW Benchmark.
Energy stocks lead the rebound
PGE rose 5.88 percent and KGHM gained 5.24 percent at the 4:31 p.m. CEST market update on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. CD Projekt advanced 4.08 percent and Tauron gained 4.04 percent. The energy sector was the main source of strength, while market commentary highlighted the rotation from earlier leaders toward PGE and other energy companies, as Parkiet reported.
Contrasting moves among blue chips
mBank was the weakest WIG 20 constituent in the market summary, falling 4.33 percent, while Dino Polska was the strongest with a 6.35 percent gain, according to Money.pl. The close followed two losing sessions and left the index below its October 6 closing record of 4,222.36 points.
