The WIG 20 was trading at 4,196.25 points at 13:26 Berlin time on November 4, up 1.39% from the previous close. The gain marked a clear intraday rebound after the index had fallen for three consecutive sessions. Compared with the 4,095.98-point midday level reported in this series on November 3, the benchmark was 2.45% higher.
The current level and percentage change were reported by Business Insider with a timestamp of 13:26 on November 4. The source also showed gains across Poland's broader WIG and mWIG40 indexes, indicating that the advance was not limited to the blue-chip benchmark.
Opening gap quickly reversed
The official GPW Benchmark factsheet lists an opening level of 4,136.87 points for November 4. The previous session ended at 4,138.60 points, according to WNP. The modestly lower start was therefore followed by buying that lifted the index above the previous close during the morning.
Election result and RPP in focus
XTB Research attributed the improved market mood to the US midterm election result and expectations that Poland's Monetary Policy Council would leave its reference rate unchanged at 3.75%. XTB also cited a preliminary October inflation reading of 3.5% year over year, down from 4.1% in September. These factors helped frame the day's risk appetite, although the durability of the rebound remained dependent on the central bank's communication and wider market conditions.
At the configured European midday slot, the Warsaw session was still in progress. The move was therefore an intraday reading rather than a closing signal. Investors should distinguish the recovery from Tuesday's low midday level from any conclusion about the full-session trend. Further direction could depend on the RPP decision and the market's assessment of the US political outcome.
