UNUS SED LEO price steadies as hack-recovery burn terms remain open

- UNUS SED LEO traded at 9.3468 USD in the retrieved Investing.com snapshot on Nov. 5.
- A Nov. 4 close of 9.30 USD implies a gain of 0.50 percent against the stated comparison basis.
- Bitfinex plans to use at least 80 percent of remaining net proceeds from recovered hack funds for LEO buybacks and burns.
- The eventual burn cannot yet be calculated because redemptions, costs and net proceeds remain unresolved.
The UNUS SED LEO price remains broadly steady while the market weighs a potential supply reduction tied to the recovery of Bitcoin stolen in the 2016 Bitfinex hack. The retrieved Investing.com page showed LEO at 9.3468 USD at 03:49:37 Berlin time on Nov. 5, with a displayed change of +0.0519 USD, or +0.56 percent.
For the required daily comparison, the Nov. 4 close listed in The Market Periodical's CoinGecko/Binance-backed OHLC table was 9.30 USD. Against that reference, the retrieved price was 0.50 percent higher. The move is below the 5 percent threshold for making price action the main headline, so the more relevant issue for token holders is the still-conditional burn mechanism.
Recovered Bitcoin is not an immediate burn
According to TradingView News, approximately 264.863 BTC connected to the Bitfinex hack moved from a government wallet to Coinbase on Oct. 6, 2026. The report characterized the transfer as part of a court-ordered restitution process rather than evidence of a government liquidation.
The distinction matters for LEO. TradingView News reported that Bitfinex intends first to use recovered assets to redeem Recovery Right Tokens issued to users affected by the breach. It then plans to allocate at least 80 percent of any remaining net proceeds to repurchase and burn UNUS SED LEO. That percentage applies to the remaining net proceeds, not automatically to the gross Bitcoin transfer.
What investors still need to see
The exact number of LEO tokens that could ultimately be removed from circulation cannot be derived from the 264.863 BTC figure alone. The calculation depends on the value realized, redemptions for Recovery Right Tokens, associated costs and the timing of the implementation. A transfer to Coinbase therefore should not be presented as proof that a burn has already occurred.
The Investing.com snapshot also displayed a market capitalization of 8.59 billion USD, a 24-hour volume of 117.29 thousand USD and circulating supply of 919.86 million LEO. These are point-in-time market data, not estimates of the future burn. The Market Periodical reported a Nov. 4 market-capitalization figure of 8.52 billion USD in a separate snapshot, illustrating why such metrics should be tied to their source and timestamp.
For the UNUS SED LEO price, the next material confirmation would be a dated disclosure of an executed buyback or burn, together with the number of tokens removed. Until then, the hack-recovery plan is a potential deflationary catalyst, but not a quantified change in circulating supply. Further coverage is available on the UNUS SED LEO topic page.
