- UNUS SED LEO traded at 9.3943 USD at 18:47:40 Berlin time on November 3, 2026, according to Investing.com.
- Bitfinex has pledged at least 80 percent of remaining net proceeds from recovered hack funds to buy back and destroy LEO.
- The eventual burn cannot yet be calculated because Recovery Right Token redemptions, costs and the start date remain unclear.
- The recurring mechanism commits iFinex to use at least 27 percent of consolidated gross monthly revenue for LEO buybacks and burns.
UNUS SED LEO price stood at 9.3943 USD at 18:47:40 Berlin time on November 3, 2026, on the retrieved Investing.com page. The same source showed a market capitalization of 8.62 billion USD, a rank of 13, 24-hour volume of 195.59 thousand USD and circulating supply of 919.86 million LEO. Its displayed 52-week range was 6.2110 to 10.4132 USD.
Recovered Bitcoin is not a burn amount
The main catalyst remains the return of Bitcoin connected with the 2016 Bitfinex hack. According to CryptoTicker, a US government wallet transferred 264.863 Bitcoin to Coinbase on October 6, 2026. Bitfinex has committed to using at least 80 percent of the remaining net proceeds to buy back and destroy LEO.
That percentage does not apply directly to the transferred Bitcoin. Recovery Right Tokens issued to users affected by the breach must be addressed first, and legal or other costs are deducted before the remaining net proceeds are calculated. CryptoTicker reported that Bitfinex has not published the size of those deductions or a date for the buyback. The eventual LEO burn therefore cannot be derived from the 264.863 Bitcoin transfer alone.
The recurring supply mechanism
Separate from the hack-related commitment, iFinex has operated a recurring buyback-and-burn mechanism since May 2019. CryptoTicker reported that the parent company has pledged to use at least 27 percent of its consolidated gross monthly revenue to buy LEO and destroy it. The purchases can also occur off-exchange, including through a direct Bitcoin-for-LEO swap.
This structure creates a continuing supply-reduction narrative, but it does not establish a guaranteed price outcome. The current UNUS SED LEO price should therefore be viewed alongside the uncertainty around the one-off burn and the limited information about its timing. The available market data show a substantial token valuation relative to the reported daily volume, so execution conditions may matter as much as the headline price for investors assessing an entry or exit.
What investors should monitor
- Whether Bitfinex confirms receipt of recovered funds for purposes of the 18-month commitment.
- How much is deducted for Recovery Right Token redemptions and related costs.
- Whether a specific buyback amount and burn transaction are published.
- Whether the recurring revenue-funded burns continue at the stated minimum.
