Tether’s latest reserve report gives USDT investors a stronger stated buffer, while the token itself remained close to its one-dollar target. Tether reported USD 1.5 billion in net operating profit for the third quarter of 2026 and said excess reserves had risen to USD 7.95 billion at September 30, up from USD 4.1 billion at the end of the second quarter.

The figures were published by Tether on October 30 and describe the position at the end of September, not the issuer’s balance sheet on the publication date. According to Tether, total reserve assets were USD 191.45 billion against liabilities of USD 183.50 billion. The company also reported USD 4.5 billion in net operating profit for the first nine months of 2026.

USDT remains near its dollar peg

At the time the Investing.com page was read for this report, the Tether USDt price was listed at 0.9989 USD. The page showed a 24-hour trading volume of USD 54.58 billion, market capitalization of USD 179.82 billion and circulating supply of 180.12 billion USDT. Those figures are a point-in-time market snapshot and can change continuously in the round-the-clock crypto market.

The near-dollar level is consistent with USDT’s role as a stablecoin rather than a conventional growth asset. Tether states that its tokens are pegged one-to-one to corresponding fiat currencies and backed by reserves. For USDT, the relevant reference is the US dollar. A small market-price deviation does not by itself indicate a permanent loss of the peg, but investors remain exposed to liquidity, redemption, reserve-composition and counterparty risks.

What the reserve figures show

Tether said U.S. Treasury bills and reverse repurchase agreements continued to provide most of its income. Direct and indirect Treasury bill holdings totalled USD 132.4 billion, according to the company’s release. The reserve surplus is the excess of reported assets over liabilities; it is not the same as a cash balance and should not be interpreted as a guarantee against every market or operational risk.

The report was prepared as a quarterly attestation by BDO. Tether’s release describes the result as an attestation covering financial figures and reserves as of September 30, so the disclosure offers a dated view rather than continuous confirmation of reserve coverage. For investors, the key distinction is between the stronger reported cushion and the separate question of how quickly assets could be converted and redeemed under stress.

Investor takeaway for USDT

The Tether USDt price remains designed to track the dollar, which limits the relevance of ordinary token-price appreciation as an investment thesis. The more important indicators are reserve coverage, redemption liquidity, regulatory treatment and the continued use of USDT across exchanges and payment infrastructure. The latest quarterly disclosure improves the reported cushion, but it does not remove those structural risks.
