The Tether USDt price remains close to its intended dollar peg as Tether-backed infrastructure prepares to bring USDT back to the Bitcoin network. Utexo plans a public launch on November 28 using RGB, with support for the Lightning Network targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

Investing.com displayed USDT at 0.9988 USD on its Tether USDt quote page. The same page showed a market capitalization of 182.24 billion USD, 24-hour volume of 54.51 billion USD, a circulating supply of 182.49 billion tokens and a rank of third among crypto assets. Those figures underline USDT's role as a settlement and liquidity instrument rather than a conventional growth token.

Bitcoin becomes a new settlement option

According to Cointelegraph, Utexo intends to use RGB to keep asset transaction data off Bitcoin's public ledger while anchoring the system to Bitcoin. The project first opened its USDT Mint product to verified exchanges, wallets and market makers on October 22 for testing on Bitcoin's Signet network.

The design is aimed at payment use cases that differ from Ethereum-based decentralized finance or high-volume retail activity on Tron. RGB can connect with Lightning payment channels, allowing transfers without a new Bitcoin base-layer transaction for every movement. Utexo has also named a first-year target of 1 billion USDT on Bitcoin, although that is a project ambition rather than an established forecast.

Adoption and bridge risks remain

Investors should distinguish the planned network expansion from an immediate change in USDT's reserve or peg profile. The Bitcoin version would rely on USDT0 being locked on Arbitrum before an equivalent RGB asset is minted. Redemption would burn the Bitcoin-based token and release funds on the source network. Cointelegraph notes that this connection creates additional bridge risk, because users must be able to rely on the locked assets remaining available.

There is also a separate operational risk around issuer control. TokenPost reported that at least 33 Tron addresses were flagged as frozen on October 29, with balances totaling about 27 million USD at the time of the alerts. Tether had not publicly stated a specific reason for those freezes, according to the report. The incident highlights the difference between a stablecoin's dollar target and the compliance powers attached to its token contracts.

What matters for holders

The Tether USDt price is therefore likely to remain primarily a peg and liquidity indicator. The Bitcoin rollout could broaden payment access if wallets, exchanges and merchants adopt it, but the November launch and later Lightning integration remain milestones rather than completed network usage. Tether's October 21 investment in Bolivian fintech Peso, reported by Tether, likewise shows a strategy focused on payment rails and local on- and off-ramps across Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina.

For market participants, the key indicators are actual Bitcoin-based supply, redemption performance, bridge security and sustained transaction demand. The internal topic page for Tether USDt coverage provides the continuing news context.
