Frankfurt closing report: The TecDAX ended the Xetra session on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 4,143.40 points. Compared with Tuesday's closing level of 4,092.59 points, the index gained 50.81 points, or 1.24 percent.
Index recovers from weaker opening
The index initially moved lower, opening at 4,082.24 points, equivalent to a decline of 0.25 percent from Tuesday's close. It subsequently recovered and reached a session high of 4,169.71 points. The day's low was 4,080.18 points. The closing move was therefore stronger than the early trading pattern suggested.
finanzen.ch reported the Xetra closing level, the daily range and the leading TecDAX constituents. The report also put the index's 2026 year-to-date gain at 14.32 percent based on the closing data.
Renewable energy leads the advance
Performance within the index was mixed despite the strong headline gain. SMA Solar Technology rose 6.18 percent, Nordex advanced 4.83 percent and Eckert & Ziegler gained 4.56 percent. SAP and Deutsche Telekom also finished higher, gaining 3.70 percent and 3.60 percent respectively.
On the weaker side, Aixtron fell 6.25 percent, Jenoptik lost 5.16 percent and Elmos Semiconductor declined 4.80 percent. PVA TePla and SUSS MicroTec were also among the laggards. The breadth of the broader Frankfurt market was positive: Investing.com reported 470 advancing stocks on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange against 210 decliners, with 64 unchanged.
Broad market rally sets the backdrop
Investing.com attributed the positive German market session to strength in retail, media and software shares. The DAX rose 2.38 percent and the MDAX gained 1.28 percent, providing a supportive backdrop for the TecDAX. Within the technology index, however, the divergent performance of the chip and renewable-energy names showed that the advance was not uniform across all technology segments.
