- The TA-35 fell 3.69% to 3,823.18 points on November 5, 2026.
- Losses intensified after Wall Street opened sharply lower, while defense, insurance and technology sectors weakened.
- Index rebalancing drove unusually high equity turnover during the session.
The TA-35 ended Thursday's session sharply lower as weakness in technology, defense and financial stocks spread across the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The index closed at 3,823.18 points on November 5, 2026, down 3.69% from the previous trading session's close of 3,969.53. The official TASE market data records the final index reading at 17:27:55 and shows the market as closed.
Wall Street adds to late selling
According to Globes, the decline became steeper as US stock markets opened significantly lower. The report said the TA-35 reached a new six-month low, while the broader TA-125 fell 3.38% and the BlueTech Global Index lost 3.63%. The late-session acceleration links the timing of the selling to the weaker US opening, but does not by itself establish a single cause for the full-day decline.
Technology and defense stocks under pressure
Sector performance was broadly negative. Globes reported declines of 7.09% for the Tel Aviv Defense Index, 5.07% for the Tel Aviv Insurance Index, 4.78% for the Tel Aviv Technology Index and 3.94% for the Tel Aviv Construction Index. The chemicals, rubber and plastics index was a notable exception, rising 3.39%.
Among individual TA-35 constituents cited in the market coverage, Palo Alto Networks fell 8.28%, Tower Semiconductor declined 8.35% and Bank Hapoalim lost 2.50%. Teva closed unchanged, while ICL rose 5.67%. These moves illustrate the uneven contribution beneath the index decline: gains in selected chemical and consumer-related names were not enough to offset losses in technology, defense and financial shares.
Rebalancing lifts turnover
Equity turnover reached NIS 10.71 billion in the official TASE data. Globes reported that the unusually high activity reflected the implementation of a market-index revision, which required tracking-fund managers to adjust holdings to match the new index composition. The rebalancing therefore represents an important one-off trading factor when interpreting the session's volume, although it does not change the direction of the index's price move.
