Shenzhen Component closes 0.2 percent higher as semiconductors lag

Shenzhen Component closed at 12,642 points on October 9, up 0.17 percent, after opening 0.51 percent lower. Xinhua said film and television, precious metals, cybersecurity and brokerage sectors led the advance, while computing hardware, wind power equipment, semiconductors and banks declined.
Technology sectors lagged as the index recovered
The session extended the market's sharp technology-led weakness from the first post-holiday session, when the index fell 2.07 percent to 12,621 points. BigGo Finance reported that semiconductor, component and artificial-intelligence application shares had led the previous day's selloff. On October 9, computing hardware and semiconductor stocks again ranked among the weakest groups, while precious metals and other defensive areas gained.
Turnover across the Shanghai Composite and Shenzhen Component was 1.9 trillion CNY, compared with 1.68 trillion CNY in the prior session, according to Xinhua.
What comes next
China is scheduled to release September consumer and producer price data on October 14 at 9:30 a.m. Beijing time. The CPI and PPI release will provide the next major domestic data point for mainland equities, as Admiral Markets notes.
