Firmus withdrawal lifts technology shares
Firmus withdrew its application on October 9 and said it would pursue private-market funding instead. Reuters said the planned USD 5 billion offering had been viewed as an important addition to Australia's listed market.
Technology shares rose 2.2 percent on October 9, while consumer discretionary stocks gained 2.2 percent. Nine of the 11 sectors finished higher, according to PerthNow.
Maas Group falls 6.7 percent
Maas Group, a Firmus shareholder and supplier, fell 6.7 percent to AUD 4.63 on October 9 after trading resumed following a halt. Samso said the company disclosed its Firmus shareholding and related work orders.
Telecommunications was the weakest sector, down 0.6 percent, while materials slipped 0.0 percent. Market breadth was positive, with 140 stocks rising, 12 unchanged and 48 declining on October 9, according to ABC News.
