RTS Index gains 0.28 percent in midday trading on oil support

Brent crude was priced at USD 100.40 per barrel at 9:01 a.m. Moscow time, according to Interfax. The report said stronger oil prices were supporting exporter shares. The opening advance followed Monday's RTS Index close at 860.36 points, a gain of 0.12 percent.
At the opening, VTB shares rose 2.3 percent, VK gained 1.4 percent and Rusal advanced 0.7 percent, while Aeroflot fell 1.2 percent, according to Interfax. The Chinese yuan traded at 12.814 rubles at 9:15 a.m. Moscow time, after strengthening against the ruble.
Events ahead
U.S. ADP employment data is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Moscow time on October 6, followed by U.S. trade data at 3:30 p.m. and a speech by Federal Reserve governor Michelle Bowman at 5:45 p.m., according to The Moscow Times. The Finance Ministry will begin buying foreign currency and gold at a daily rate of RUB 12.7 billion on October 7, compared with RUB 2.5 billion previously, Reuters reported through The Moscow Times.
