Portugal's PSI 20 was higher at Lisbon midday on Thursday, November 5, 2026. At 12:13 local time, the index stood at 9,508.57 points, up 1.25% from Wednesday's close at 9,391.57 points. The move keeps the benchmark above the previous session's level after it gained 1.82% on November 4.
The current market snapshot was reported by Jornal Económico. Since Portugal was on Western European Time and Berlin was on Central European Time on this date, the quoted observation corresponds to 13:13 Berlin time, within the configured reporting window.
NOS and Sonae lead the advance
The gains were concentrated among several large constituents. NOS was up 3.48% at 5.495 euros, while Sonae rose 2.78% to 2.2150 euros. EDP Renováveis gained 2.38% to 13.79 euros and Galp advanced 0.35% to 19.92 euros. Altri moved in the opposite direction, down 0.71% to 4.220 euros, and was the only decliner in the snapshot cited by Jornal Económico.
Earlier in the session, Executive Digest, citing Lusa, reported the PSI 20 at 9,501.89 points around 09:40 Lisbon time, up 1.17%. It said 13 companies were rising and three were falling at that point, with NOS and Sonae among the strongest performers.
European optimism remains a market backdrop
Jornal Económico attributed the positive European tone to optimism following the Democratic victory in the US midterm elections. The report also noted relatively stable European bond yields and developments in oil prices as factors supporting sentiment. These factors describe the broader market backdrop rather than establishing a direct cause for each individual PSI 20 move.
Investors were also watching the Bank of England's interest-rate decision and incoming corporate results, according to the midday report. The PSI 20's next direction will depend on how these developments interact with movements in the index's heavyweight shares during the remainder of the Lisbon session.
