- The PSI 20 ended the November 3 session 0.31% lower at a preliminary 9,223.89 points.
- Industrials, financials and basic materials weighed on the index, while EDP Renováveis led the gainers.
- Corticeira Amorim was the session's weakest major performer after reporting lower nine-month revenue and net income.
The PSI 20 closed lower on Tuesday, November 3, as weakness in industrials, financials and basic materials outweighed gains in selected Lisbon-listed stocks. The index fell 0.31% to a preliminary 9,223.89 points, according to UOL, citing Dow Jones Newswires. The Lisbon session was already finished by the 18:30-19:30 Berlin reporting window, making this a closing report rather than an intraday update.
Sector pressure shapes the session
Reuters content published by Investing.com described the decline as broad-based, with industrials, financials and basic materials among the sectors weighing on the PSI. Falling shares outnumbered advancing stocks on the Lisbon exchange by 15 to 11, while three stocks finished unchanged.
EDP Renováveis was the strongest performer in the Reuters market account, rising 3.82% to 13.05 euros. NOS gained 1.26% to 5.24 euros and CTT advanced 1.23% to 5.33 euros. The gains were not sufficient to offset heavier losses elsewhere in the index.
Corticeira results add to selling pressure
Corticeira Amorim fell 9.57% to 6.33 euros, making it the weakest performer cited in the closing report. The move followed the company's nine-month results. Ideal Investisseur reported that revenue declined 4.3% to 647.7 million euros and recurring EBITDA fell 3.4% to 113.5 million euros, although the recurring EBITDA margin edged up to 17.5%. Net income decreased 22.4% to 35.4 million euros, reflecting non-recurring costs associated with the restructuring of the flooring business and cost-structure adjustments.
Banco Comercial Portugues lost 2.74% to 1.05 euros, while Semapa declined 2.42% to 19.36 euros. The session therefore combined company-specific pressure, especially at Corticeira Amorim, with broader risk aversion across European markets.
