- The OMXS30 stood at 3,280 points at 12:10 CET on November 3, down 0.2 percent on the day.
- Technology weakness, renewed Middle East tensions and caution ahead of the US midterm elections weighed on European equities.
- Telecom stocks outperformed within the index, while Boliden and EQT were among the weaker constituents.
The OMXS30 remained in negative territory during Tuesday's Stockholm session, although the early decline had moderated by midday. At 12:10 CET on November 3, the index stood at 3,280 points, down 0.2 percent from the previous close.
The reading was reported by Placera at 12:23 CET, citing a level recorded shortly after 12:10 CET. The Stockholm market was still open, making this an intraday reading rather than a closing level. The index had opened sharply lower after the previous session's close at 3,287.02 points, according to Nasdaq.
Global risk appetite weakens
European markets were pressured by renewed concerns about the artificial-intelligence trade and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Reuters reported that technology stocks led declines after reports of US strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island, while Brent crude recovered above 100 US dollars per barrel after a steep fall in the previous session. Investors were also preparing for the US midterm elections.
That combination put pressure on cyclical and technology-sensitive areas of the European market. The broader STOXX 600 was reported lower by more than 0.5 percent in morning trading, providing a weak regional backdrop for Stockholm.
Mixed performance among constituents
Within the OMXS30, Tele2 and Telia moved against the broader trend, each gaining close to 1 percent according to Placera. Boliden fell nearly 3 percent and EQT declined about 2 percent. The session also featured company-specific earnings reactions outside the largest index constituents, adding to the dispersion across Swedish equities.
The verified index move was modest compared with the early sell-off, but the trading backdrop remained sensitive to developments in technology valuations, oil prices and the US election. The OMXS30's next confirmed reference point will be the official Stockholm close rather than this midday indication. Further coverage is available on the OMXS30 topic page.
