Stockholm's OMXS30 ended Friday's session at 3,267.88, down 1.01%. The decline followed a broad selloff in global AI and chip-related stocks, with technology concerns again weighing on European markets. The closing level was reported by Placera.
Global technology losses set the tone
According to Placera, the Swedish large-cap index moved broadly in line with other European markets after Wall Street suffered a sharp decline the previous day. A partial recovery in US trading offered some support, but stronger US jobs data did not materially improve sentiment because investors also considered the possibility of higher policy rates.
The index's 1.01% decline compares with a previous close of 3,301.09. The arithmetic difference is 33.21 points, equivalent to approximately -1.01% when calculated from the previous close. The Nasdaq index overview identifies the OMXS30 as the OMX Stockholm 30 Index and lists its currency as Swedish krona.
Mixed performance beneath the index
Losses were broad across the Stockholm market. Placera reported that all major sectors except healthcare declined, while telecommunications was the weakest sector with a 1.12% fall. Within the OMXS30, Skanska B rose 2.1% and Epiroc A gained 0.5%. Nibe B fell 2.4%, while Addtech B declined 1.9%.
Company-specific news provided some offsets. Clas Ohlson rose after reporting 12% organic sales growth in October, while BTS, Attendo and Inission advanced after quarterly updates that showed stronger operating performance. These individual moves did not prevent the broader index from closing lower.
What the close means for investors
The session underlined the sensitivity of Swedish large caps to global technology sentiment and interest-rate expectations. The OMXS30 remains a diversified benchmark of 30 actively traded Stockholm-listed companies, so its daily movement reflects both international risk appetite and developments in Sweden-specific constituents. The move alone does not establish a lasting trend, but investors will likely continue to monitor US technology trading, rate expectations and the ongoing Swedish earnings season.
