- The OMXS30 ended Friday, November 6, at 3,267.88 points, down 1.01% from Thursday's close.
- Investor caution followed a sharp Wall Street sell-off linked to concerns about artificial intelligence investment and chip stocks.
- Skanska and Epiroc outperformed, while Nibe and H&M were among the weakest index constituents.
The OMXS30 ended Friday's Stockholm session at 3,267.88 points, down 1.01% from Thursday's close of 3,301.09. The decline followed a sharp sell-off on Wall Street and weakness across Asian markets, with investors reassessing the outlook for artificial intelligence spending and semiconductor stocks.
Placera reported that the large-cap index fell 1.01% at the close. The report said the wider Stockholm market was also pressured by the previous day's global technology sell-off. The move from 3,301.09 to 3,267.88 corresponds to a decline of 33.21 points.
Broad weakness across sectors
The retreat was broad. Placera said all major industrial sectors except healthcare declined, while telecom was the weakest sector among those cited, falling 1.12%. Market breadth was also negative, with 28 of the 30 OMXS30 constituents ending lower, according to Sweden Herald, which carried reporting from TT News Agency.
Skanska B was the strongest performer among the named index constituents, rising 2.1%, while Epiroc A gained 0.5%. Nibe B fell 2.4% and H&M declined 1.9%, making them two of the session's weakest large-cap stocks. The performance suggests that the pressure was not limited to a single company-specific development.
Global risk appetite remains fragile
Sweden Herald described the market backdrop as a reaction to Thursday's US stock-market crash, which was associated with concerns about the sustainability of AI-related investment and the broader impact on technology valuations. The report also noted that stronger-than-expected US jobs data increased concern about the possibility of a higher US policy rate in December. Those factors added to the risk-off tone, even as US technology shares recovered during Friday trading.
For investors tracking Swedish equities, the session marked a clear reversal from the previous day's close and left the OMXS30 below its Thursday level. The index's next move will depend in part on whether global technology shares stabilize and how markets interpret incoming inflation, interest-rate and corporate earnings signals.
