- NEAR's House of Stake is voting on HSP-029, which would lower maximum annual issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months.
- The proposal retains the measured 90/10 staker-to-treasury split but would reduce modeled gross staking yield to 3.372% at the target rate.
- Investing.com displayed NEAR at 4.6034 USD, while the tokenized-asset expansion with Ondo Finance adds a separate ecosystem catalyst.
NEAR Protocol price is entering a key governance deadline with the House of Stake vote on proposal HSP-029 scheduled to close on November 2, 2026. The proposal would gradually reduce the maximum annual NEAR issuance rate from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months.
Investing.com displayed NEAR at 4.6034 USD on its live market page, with a quoted 24-hour change of 2.00%. The page showed a 24-hour volume of 610.47 million USD, a market capitalization of 5.98 billion USD and a rank of 16. As a separate daily reference, Kinzan lists the November 1 UTC daily close at 4.423 USD. Compared with that close, the displayed quote was 4.08% higher, calculated from the unrounded values. The two figures represent different comparison methods: the Investing.com change is a rolling 24-hour figure, while the calculation uses the prior UTC daily close.
Vote would reduce future dilution
The NEAR Forum proposal describes a linear, per-epoch reduction over two years. It retains the measured 90/10 distribution between staking participants and the treasury. The proposal also includes a 90-day grace period before the first reduction takes effect.
At the target issuance rate, the proposal models gross staking yield at 3.372%, down from 5.268% under the current 2.5% cap, assuming the measured staking ratio remains unchanged. That creates a trade-off for investors: slower new supply growth could reduce dilution for non-stakers, while lower nominal rewards could affect stakers and validator economics.
House of Stake approval alone would not change the protocol. The proposal requires adoption by validators through a network upgrade. The vote therefore marks a governance decision rather than an immediate supply reduction.
Ondo integration adds a second theme
According to Altcoin Buzz, NEAR and Ondo Finance announced on October 31 plans to make tokenized US stocks and exchange-traded funds available through NEAR's 1Click Swap API. The integration expands access to tokenized financial assets through NEAR's cross-chain infrastructure, but broader access does not automatically create demand for the NEAR token.
For investors, the immediate focus is the vote's outcome, the later validator process and whether network usage translates into token value capture. The NEAR Protocol price remains exposed to broader crypto-market volatility while these longer-term tokenomics and infrastructure developments are assessed.
