The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 26,568 points at 12:22 p.m. ET on October 15, 2026, down 125 points or 0.5 percent from 26,693 points. September producer prices rose 1.3 percent month over month, versus 0.5 percent expected, as eOption reports.
Micron shares were down 3.7 percent on Thursday as semiconductor losses extended across technology stocks, CNBC reports. The move followed concerns about artificial-intelligence financing and the prospect of more Federal Reserve tightening.
Why is the Nasdaq Composite down today?
Core producer prices rose 0.7 percent month over month, above the 0.3 percent forecast. Annual headline PPI reached 6.3 percent, versus a 5.3 percent consensus estimate, according to eOption.
The data followed Wednesday's hotter consumer-price reading. Higher inflation has increased concern that the Federal Reserve will keep policy restrictive. The Nasdaq Composite opened lower and remains under pressure in semiconductor and artificial-intelligence shares.
Oil and Asian technology losses add pressure
Brent crude remained above USD 105 per barrel while South Korea's Kospi fell 7.57 percent. Yahoo Finance linked the technology weakness to the global semiconductor selloff and said Taiwan Semiconductor earnings were being watched for confirmation of continued AI demand, Yahoo Finance reports.
