According to Reuters, the advance came as Treasury yields eased and crude prices steadied, while investors turned toward the approaching third-quarter earnings season.
AI shares and lower yields support the advance
Artificial-intelligence and semiconductor shares helped extend the Nasdaq's record run. Yahoo Finance reported that Nvidia reached an all-time high as the Nasdaq set another record, even though the 10-year Treasury yield remained near 5.30 percent. Reuters said the yield eased from the previous session's level, reducing pressure on technology stocks.
Federal Reserve minutes due Wednesday
The main scheduled test for the next session is the release of minutes from the Federal Reserve's September 15-16 meeting at 2:00 p.m. ET on October 7. Admiral Markets said the minutes are expected to provide detail on the decision to raise the federal funds target range to 3.75 percent to 4.00 percent.
