The IDX Composite rebounded sharply on Thursday, November 5, 2026, closing at 5,030.26, according to Kompas. The index gained 110.49 points, or 2.25%, from Wednesday's close of 4,919.77. The move returned the benchmark above the psychologically important 5,000-point level after a volatile period for Indonesian equities.
Index Reclaims the 5,000 Level
The index stayed in positive territory throughout the session, with a low of 4,995.46 and a high of 5,072.05. Trading volume reached 22.9 billion shares, while transaction value was reported at IDR 9.98 trillion across more than 1.32 million transactions, according to Jakarta Globe.
The advance was broad, with 440 stocks rising, 178 declining and 99 unchanged, the Jakarta Globe reported. Kompas identified raw materials and industrial companies among the stronger sector groups, with gains of 3.78% and 2.81%, respectively. Energy stocks rose 0.38% in the same report. Large-cap names including BBCA, TLKM, AMMN, BBRI and BMRI were cited as important contributors, while commodity stocks such as ANTM and MDKA also advanced.
Global and Domestic Drivers
Sentiment benefited from the outcome of the US midterm elections and expectations that the result could reduce political uncertainty around global markets. ANTARA reported that investors were also monitoring the effect of the election result on US fiscal policy, trade and geopolitical relations. Lower crude oil and US dollar prices, together with a recovery in gold, were identified by Phintraco Sekuritas as additional potential supports for market sentiment.
Domestic fundamentals added to the positive backdrop. Jakarta Globe reported that Indonesia's economy grew 5.47% year over year in the third quarter of 2026, up from 5.29% in the second quarter. Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas said the data could help support rupiah stability and reduce concerns about foreign outflows. The brokerage also linked the day's improvement to easing concerns about a possible US-Iran conflict and broader geopolitical risk.
Rebound Still Needs Confirmation
Despite the strong daily gain, the move does not by itself establish a durable recovery. Kompas quoted Trimegah Sekuritas economist Fakhrul Fulvian as attributing the advance to corrected valuations, relatively thin liquidity and improved sentiment toward the rupiah and bonds. He said a more sustainable recovery would require consistent foreign inflows, a stable rupiah, lower government bond yields and progress on market-governance concerns raised by MSCI.
For investors, the session marks a significant technical recovery but leaves the medium-term trend dependent on follow-through. The IDX Composite's next moves will be watched against global risk sentiment, domestic economic data and developments affecting Indonesia's market classification.
