The Hang Seng Index closed higher on Monday, November 2, 2026, as technology and selected cyclical sectors advanced. According to NAMPA, citing Xinhua, the index rose 0.42 percent to 23,393.32 points. A separate market report put the daily gain at 98.90 points, implying a previous close of 23,294.42 points.
Technology shares lead the advance
The technology-heavy parts of the market outperformed the broader benchmark. The Hang Seng Tech Index gained 2.25 percent to 3,839.41 points, while full-day turnover across Hong Kong stocks reached HKD 204.84 billion, according to Zhitong Finance.
Among prominent blue chips, Xiaomi rose 6.12 percent, while Alibaba and Tencent also gained. The Standard reported that CATL advanced about 6 percent and that semiconductor shares strengthened. It also noted that Bank of China Hong Kong and Bank of China were among the weakest Hang Seng constituents after recent results. These sector and constituent moves show a market with strong support in growth-oriented areas but uneven participation across financial stocks.
Policy and earnings remain in focus
Investors were also assessing reports about potential measures to support China's capital markets. The Zhitong Finance report said Chinese brokerage shares rallied after reports of a meeting involving financial regulators, banks and securities firms, including discussion of a swap facility for securities, funds and insurance companies. Such reports were a market theme during the session, but their longer-term effect remains dependent on implementation.
At the same time, the wider technology backdrop remained unsettled. Yahoo Finance reported that investors were looking ahead to earnings from Apple, AMD and Palantir after concerns about the scale and profitability of artificial-intelligence investment had pressured technology shares. For the Hang Seng, the session therefore combined a rebound in technology and related hardware names with continued sensitivity to global earnings and policy signals.
