Tuesday's drivers and leaders
Lower Treasury yields and steadier crude prices supported equities as investors turned toward the upcoming earnings season, Reuters reported. Cisco Systems led the Dow with a 4.54 percent gain, followed by Walmart at 2.04 percent and Home Depot at 1.97 percent. Salesforce fell 2.09 percent, Boeing lost 1.50 percent and UnitedHealth declined 0.60 percent, according to Investing.com.
Fed minutes ahead
The Federal Reserve is scheduled to publish minutes from its September 15-16 meeting on October 7 at 2:00 p.m. ET, according to Admiral Markets. The meeting produced a 25-basis-point rate increase to a 3.75 percent to 4.00 percent target range.
Before the 9:30 a.m. ET open, Dow futures were little changed as investors awaited the minutes, while the 10-year Treasury yield moved back above 5.30 percent, Yahoo Finance reported. The US 10-year note auction is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET, followed by the Federal Reserve release at 2:00 p.m. ET.
