- The DAX closed Friday, November 6, 2026, down 1.92% at 25,820.36 points.
- Technology and semiconductor selling followed concerns about AI investment and possible tighter regulation.
- A stronger-than-expected US jobs report and renewed interest-rate worries added to the cautious mood.
The DAX ended Friday, November 6, 2026, at 25,820.36 points, down 1.92% from Thursday's close at 26,325.01 points. The German benchmark therefore surrendered its interim weekly gain after reaching a record high of almost 26,693 points on Thursday. The closing figures and market assessment were reported by finanzen.ch based on a dpa-AFX report.
Technology selling sets the tone
The decline came after a broad sell-off in artificial-intelligence and semiconductor stocks. According to finanzen.ch, concerns about the scale of AI investment and the prospect of stricter regulation following the US midterm elections weighed on risk appetite. The report said the Nasdaq 100 had suffered its sharpest daily loss since the coronavirus crash on Thursday, while the semiconductor index SOX had fallen by more than 12%.
The DAX had already opened lower on Friday as the weakness in US technology stocks spread to Asian and European markets. A morning report from Tagesschau described the index as falling below 26,000 points and identified the possible economic impact of tighter AI rules as a central concern.
Interest-rate concerns remain relevant
Market participants also assessed a stronger-than-expected US jobs report. The finanzen.ch report said the data was overshadowed by the technology sell-off, while expectations that US inflation could reach 4% in October revived speculation that the Federal Reserve might raise interest rates in December. Higher rates can put additional pressure on technology valuations, although the report did not establish a direct one-to-one causal link with the DAX's closing move.
US equities recovered partially during Friday's European close: the Dow was little changed and the Nasdaq 100 gained 2%, according to the report. That improvement was not enough to prevent the DAX from posting a sharp weekly setback. For investors, the session underlined the market's sensitivity to the combination of high technology valuations, AI spending expectations, regulation and interest-rate uncertainty.
