- The DAX closed on November 3, 2026, at 25,864.62 points, down 0.45 percent from the previous session.
- Renewed tensions involving Iran, oil-price volatility and uncertainty surrounding the US midterm elections weighed on sentiment.
- SAP and Zalando were among the notable decliners, while Bayer gained after raising its 2026 profit outlook.
The DAX ended the November 3, 2026, session at 25,864.62 points, down 0.45 percent from the previous close of 25,981.09 points. The index failed once again to break sustainably above the 26,000-point mark after falling as much as 1.2 percent to 25,678 points during the session.
The closing level and percentage move were reported by Yahoo Finance, citing dpa-AFX. The report said the DAX initially came under pressure as oil prices rose following reports of new US attacks on Iranian targets. Later relief linked to possible diplomatic progress was short-lived after US President Donald Trump confirmed the attacks.
Geopolitical risks dominate trading
Investors also remained cautious before the US midterm elections. The results could affect the political room available to the Trump administration for tax, spending and economic policy, according to comments cited by Yahoo Finance. The combination of geopolitical uncertainty, changing oil prices and the upcoming US vote kept risk appetite subdued.
Technology and software weakness added to the pressure. SAP was a significant drag on the index in a weak software-sector environment, while disappointing profitability overshadowed stronger sales at Zalando. n-tv reported that Zalando shares fell 6.3 percent and SAP declined 1.8 percent. Bayer shares gained 3.6 percent after the company benefited from strong pharmaceutical operations and raised its 2026 profit outlook.
Closing position remains below 26,000
The DAX recovered part of its intraday decline as oil prices retreated later in the session, but the rebound was not enough to erase the losses. Trading Economics also recorded a 0.45 percent decline at the close and identified Zalando, Fresenius Medical Care and MTU Aero Engines among the weakest index constituents, while Bayer, Hochtief and Infineon were among the gainers.
For investors, the session highlighted the index's sensitivity to energy prices, geopolitical developments and global technology sentiment. The next market focus is likely to remain on the US election results, further corporate earnings and developments in the Iran conflict. More DAX coverage is available on the DAX topic page.
