CAC 40 closed at 7,803 points on October 9, 2026, up 1.0 percent, as markets reduced expectations for further European Central Bank rate increases. The gain followed two losing sessions and was the index's strongest one-day advance since September 21, according to Morningstar.
ArcelorMittal was the strongest CAC 40 performer, rising 5.6 percent. Capgemini gained 3.8 percent and Bureau Veritas advanced 3.6 percent, while STMicroelectronics fell 3.9 percent and Orange declined 2.4 percent, Trading Economics reported.
Rate expectations support the rebound
Money markets priced the ECB deposit rate at 2.72 percent by December, compared with the current 2.50 percent, as investors moderated expectations for additional tightening. Trading Economics also linked the broader recovery to easing geopolitical concerns after President Donald Trump ruled out a US attack on Iran before the midterm elections.
The rebound did not erase the broader weekly decline. The CAC 40 lost 1.2 percent for the week and extended its run of weekly losses to two, according to Morningstar.
What comes next
The next Paris session is Monday, October 12, 2026. LVMH is scheduled to publish third-quarter revenue at 6:00 p.m. CET, according to the AFP agenda.
