Protocol 30 adds three network changes
TokenPost reported on October 21, 2026, that Bell would face a testnet vote on November 3, 2026, followed by a mainnet validator vote on November 23, 2026, at 17:00 UTC. The proposal would let smart contracts verify ML-DSA post-quantum signatures, add contract addresses with customer identifiers and record ledger close times in milliseconds.
The changes are aimed at smart-account and payment infrastructure. According to TokenPost, developers and operators using Stellar software development kits need to update them before the votes because older versions may fail to read Protocol 30 ledgers. The same report said network transaction signatures would continue to use Ed25519, so Bell would not make the entire network post-quantum.
Stellar tokenization reaches 4 billion USD
Chainlink Data Feeds and Data Streams went live on Stellar on October 14, 2026, according to the Stellar Development Foundation. The foundation said the network supports more than 4 billion USD in tokenized real-world assets, a term for blockchain-based representations of assets such as funds and other financial instruments.
Network activity also had a dated DeFi measure. Blockonomi reported that Stellar's DeFi total value locked reached 273 million USD on October 2, 2026, while daily active addresses totaled 94,972. The figures measure assets held in decentralized applications and addresses active during the measurement period, rather than the market value of XLM.
