The BEL 20 ended Thursday, November 5, 2026, 0.60% higher at the close in Brussels, reaching a new all-time high. The closing performance was reported by Investing.com. The previous BEL 20 close was 5,979.01 points on November 4, according to Euronext.
Broad advance across Belgian shares
Investing.com attributed the session's strength to gains in healthcare, telecommunications and consumer services. The move extended the index's advance after it had already closed at a record level on Wednesday. A report by VRT NWS said the index moved above 6,000 points during morning trading and cited KBC economist Tom Simonts, who highlighted AB InBev, Argenx, KBC and UCB as important contributors to the index's longer-term strength.
UCB leads the gainers
UCB rose 2.69% to 290.20 euros and was the best performer among the BEL 20 constituents cited in the closing report. Elia gained 2.38% to 133.60 euros, while Syensqo advanced 1.87% to 79.00 euros. Market breadth was positive: 45 stocks rose, 42 fell and 12 finished unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
Weak spots remain visible
Melexis was the weakest BEL 20 constituent in the report, falling 4.89% to 52.50 euros. Aperam declined 2.28% to 34.32 euros and Sofina lost 2.08% to 273.00 euros. The mixed individual-stock performance shows that the index gain was supported by selected large constituents rather than a uniform advance across all members.
